Hammer function
Drill drivers with hammer function, also known as percussion drills, exploit a cam-action: two gears rub against each other to vibrate the rotating drill bit back and forth. They are good on bricks and plaster, but if you have to drill through concrete you have to plan small diameter drill bits and a lot of patience.

Slammer force

Brushed or brushless?

Beware of tightening torque
Overdriving screws can damage the workpiece and make the fastening weaker. Excessive tightening of an anchor can destroy the plug. Too much fastening of a bolt will end up with a damaged thread, or broken screwhead. Conventional cordless drill drivers have a clutch collar to limit the torque to the task. However, you can only set it with the trial-and-error method.

Rotary hammers only work with SDS bits.
